The Heartland Institute for Transformation is an organization dedicated to spiritual activism, transformational creativity, personal empowerment and global healing. Our programs have provided support to women and girl’s organizations, as well as to Botswana, Ghana, Rwanda, Darfur, Kenya, India, and Native American communities. Our acclaimed Soul Between TheLines programs offer creative writing, personal development, journaling for well-being, and spiritual empowerment seminars.

Our Well-Dressed Goddess attire and accessory initiative supports our donation programs with a percentage of its sales while providing aesthetic empowerment.

Through our StuPenDUsprogram (Student Pens Donated by Us) we help schools in various African countries obtain much needed supplies by conducting an annual campaign for donations of writing implements.  In 2006 our annual Pen Harvest for Hope drive sent 2,000 pens and pencils to schools in Kenya’s Umoja Village, a sanctuary for women and children established by Rebecca Lolosoli.

Umoja Uaso Women's Group
umoja uaso women's group

Umoja Uaso Women's Group, is an organization and community of indigenous Samburu women in Kenya formed in 1990 by women who were rejected by their husbands and forced out of their homes after being raped. Living and working together, the women of Umoja combat discrimination, poverty, and violence against women, building a brighter future for themselves and their children. The women of Umoja have declared their village a violence-against-women-free zone, and are among a group of Samburu women bringing a case against the British military for the rapes of over 1400 Samburu women during the 1980s and 1990s.
